A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT WALLACE, YOUR REPRESENTATIVE ON THE HOMEBUILDERS SIF BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The HomeBuilders SIF 2023 fund year kicks off on April 1ˢᵗ. Our Board continues to work to ensure 

that the HomeBuilders SIF remains the strong, stable choice for workers’ compensation in our 

industry. The HomeBuilders SIF Board met recently, and I am pleased to present the following 

highlights.


2023 RENEWAL – COMPETITIVE RATES AND MORE DIVIDENDS

The SIF will be sending out renewal packets in March to all currently active SIF members. For the 

coming year, look forward to continuing competitive rates and more dividends. Based on positive 

actuarial results, rates will remain unchanged. That marks more than 16 consecutive years that the 

rates, overall, have not increased.


$3 MILLION DIVIDEND TO BE DISTRIBUTED ON OR BEFORE MARCH 15TH

The Board voted to distribute a $3 Million renewal dividend to all qualifying participants on or 

before March 15th, bringing the total dividends distributed in the 2022 fund year to $4 million. To 

date, the SIF has distributed nearly $115 million to qualifying members.


AUDIT

Beginning in April, the SIF team will begin conducting payroll audits. All audits will be performed 

virtually, meaning you won’t have to sit around waiting on your auditor to show up. If you have any 

questions about your audit or the audit process, please call your Client Service Rep at the SIF.


VIP

At the January meeting, the Board approved the 2023 operating budget. I am pleased to report that 

Voucher Incentive Program will remain funded for the 2023 fund year. The VIP is an incentive in 

which the SIF fully pays the first year HBA dues of members that are new to the SIF and new to the 

Association and, therefore, helps bring in new members to the SIF and our local. Since 2011, when 

the SIF started the VIP program, nearly 4000 members have qualified.


SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL

The SIF supports each local by providing payments for each new member underwritten by the SIF as 

well as each member that renews coverage with the SIF each year. So far this fund year, the SIF has 

provided $3,550 in support of our local association.
